About Me

Paula Anastasi-Buehler's passion for painting stems from childhood as she grew up with a father who not only was an artist but her mentor as well. She started painting horses at an early age and later studied Fine Arts and Fine Arts Education at both Columbia University and Harvard University. Later she taught art for years at St. George's School in Newport, Rhode Island and at Landmark School in Prides Crossing, Massachusetts. Paula also studied painting with Sam Savitt at the Academy of Equine Art in Lexington, Kentucky.

Paula has always loved horses and started riding seriously while she was a student at Columbia University. She aspired to become a show jumper but a tragic riding accident ended that dream although for years she continued hacking and exercising polo ponies at Myopia Hunt Club. After her dream of becoming a show jumper ended she decided instead to concentrate on her art and brought her passion for horses to her painting. She also paints exotic wildlife and domestic animal portraits. Paula has exhibited her graphite and watercolor paintings extensively over the years at various galleries from Boston to Bermuda to Palm Beach.
